Dr. Anjanette Cabeza, DVM Dr. Anjanette Cabeza was born and raised in Panama. She began working in the field of Veterinary Medicine since the age of 12 years old as a volunteer at a US Military Clinic in Corzal, Panama. She moved to the US to attend Colorado State University to complete her Undergraduate studies. She graduated from University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 with the Upjohn Award of Proficiency in Small Animal Medicine. Dr. Cabeza has 20 years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery, with her primary interest in internal medicine. The most rewarding part of her job is being able to help people and their pets in their time of need. She is a member of the International Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society, the AVMA, FVMA and the SFVMA. She is a USDA Accredited Veterinarian. For the past 16 years Dr.Cabeza has owned and operated a successful veterinary practice and will soon be re-opening a newly built Doral Pet Resort. For many years her practice has been focused on emergency medicine, that is open 24 hours to serve Doral and it’s surrounding cities. Additionally she is also certified to perform Stem Cell Procedures and Penn Hip Certifications. She recently attended an Endoscopy Course and is now certified to perform Endoscopy Procedures.
Dr. Cabeza is also the founder the Cabeza Foundation, which is a foundation that has a primary goal to provide financial assistance to pet owners whose pet has a life threatening condition, and with medical care would have a chance to return to normal function. She created the Memory Lane Sidewalk located at the Trails and Tails Doral Dog Park, in which proceeds from the brick sales go towards the Cabeza Foundation to assist people financially with their sick pet. She is a very active and influential member of the South Florida Veterinary Community. She has twin children by the names of Ashley and William. She owns a few pets, a Border Collie named Misty, a cat named Tiger, 2 hamsters and fish.
Dr. Joy Carter, DVM Dr. Joy Carter has been an associate with Doral Centre Animal Hospital for since 2010. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Born and raised in Georgia, she has lived in Miami for the last 5 years. She is a USDA Accredited Veterinarian. Her professional interests include emergency medicine and surgery. She enjoys participating in CrossFit competitions and regularly trains at Live Free CrossFit; she also has a level 1 Crossfit Certification. She has 4 animals: 2 cats ( QT & Zeppelin), a Pomeranian ( Gidget) and an English Bulldog (Munson). The aspect of her job here at the Doral Centre Animal Hospital that she values the most is being able to work with great staff and support team. She feels that having the ability to save lives is what is the most gratifying part of her job as a Veterinarian.
Dr. Lisa Diptee, DVM Dr. Diptee has been an Associate with the Doral Centre Animal Hospital since 2013. Dr. Lisa Diptee attended St. George’s University and the University of Georgia, she received her degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She decided to enter the field of Veterinary medicine to improve the quality of lives of our loved ones, our pets. She owns two pets herself, they are both Shih-Tzu’s by the names of Bailei and Precious. Dr. Diptee is a member of the AVMA and SFVMA. The area of medicine that interests her the most is Neurology and Acupuncture. The aspect of her job as a Veterinarian that she values the most is educating clients, as well as being able to build professional relationships with other Doctors in the field. The part of her job that she finds most fulfilling is being able to have the opportunity to practice quality medicine with her patients.
Dr. Diane McCombie, DVM Dr. Diane McCombie is a true South Florida girl, born and raised in the heart of Miami. Born into a Cuban-American household, Dr. McCombie speaks both English and Spanish fluently. Dr. McCombie received her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami with a double major in Biology and Marketing. Go Canes!! Looking to experience snow and the changing of seasons, she went on to obtain her DVM at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, Dr. McCombie had the opportunity to fulfill one of her dreams to travel to Thailand and work at an elephant hospital and sanctuary. After graduating vet school, she continued to further her skills and knowledge by completing a grueling internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Hollywood Animal Hospital.
Dr. McCombie’s professional interests include internal medicine, emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, as well as practice management. She is a member of the AVMA and is USDA accredited veterinarian. On her time off, you can find her soaking up the sun on the beach or doing water sports. Dr. McCombie has three fur-babies; Olive, a rambunctious beagle mix, Mango, an affectionate orange tabby, and Coconut, an adventurous Siamese mix who was one of Dr. McCombie’s first patents at the beginning of her clinical year during vet school.Dr. McCombie is excited to be part of the Doral Centre Animal Hospital family and to be serving her south Florida community.
Dr. Zachary Gouzopoulos, DVM Growing up in Toronto, Canada, Dr. Zachary Gouzopoulos has been fortunate enough to live and travel around the world. His love for animals, nature, science and medicine has been a part of him for as long as he can remember.
“I was the child that was always asking about animals, going to the park to explore and bringing home spiders, snakes, tadpoles and any other living creature that would let me get my hands on it”.
Dr. Gouzopoulos received his Bachelors of Science degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada in 2007. Upon completion he moved to Fes, Morocco to gain more experience in the veterinary field and quench his thirst for international travel and culture. After a year learning with the companion and working animals of Fes he accepted his invitation to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts. After studying for 3 years at Ross, Dr. Gouzopoulos attended Kansas State University for one year to complete his clinical requirements. Dr. Gouzopoulos has a keen interest in small animal orthopedic and soft tissue surgery as well as ophthalmology and Cardiology.
Dr. Gouzopoulos is a recent Florida resident who moved to Miami to beat the cold up north. In his free time he enjoys playing sports. He is an avid golfer and has even managed to join an ice hockey team in Florida to stay true to his Canadian roots. He also enjoys going to the gym, hiking, music concerts, travel, fishing and of course, quality beach time.
Always by his side you will find his trusty sidekick, Magnet.
Dr. Angela Suarez, DVM Dr. Angela Suarez was born and raised on the Space Coast of Florida in the small town of Merritt Island, Florida. At a young age, she had dreams of living in a big city. During high school, she visited a friend who was attending University of Miami, and during this visit she felt that Miami was her perfect fit; She then attended the University of Miami. She graduated with a bachelor degree in Biology and double minors in Chemistry and Psychology.
Shortly after graduation, she met her now husband ‘Eddy’, a Miami native who directs a street medicine outreach team that cares for the Homeless population. After graduating with her college degree, Dr. Suarez went to veterinary school at the University of Florida. Following her graduation from Vet School, she completed a one year internship in medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine at Hollywood Animal Hospital. One of her internship mates is Dr. McCombie, who also works at Doral Centre. The two had previously known each other from their undergraduate years at University of Miami. After her internship, Dr. Suarez continued to work at Hollywood Animal Hospital until she and her husband made the decision to move to Miami.
With her sights set on a life in Miami, Dr. Suarez decided to join Doral Centre in August of 2017. In the office, she enjoys providing emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. Outside of the office, she enjoys working in the garden of her home, spending time at the beach, relaxing with friends, and working on becoming fluent in Spanish (to keep up with her husband and clients!). She has 3 pets who call her mom; Cavalli, a bengal cat who she has had since her college years; Jason, a bengal cat she and her husband rescued in January 2017 (who likes her husband much more than her!), and Gracie, a miniature schnauzer who they rescued in September 2017. In fact, Gracie was a dog who Dr. Suarez met for the first time in 2013 when she was admitted to University of Florida after being hit by a car. Following orthopedic surgery for a broken pelvis, Gracie was adopted by a rescue volunteer who unfortunately passed away. Gracie was a perfect fit for the Suarez family and now enjoys a lavish backyard with daily doses of hugs and kisses.
