Dog and Cat Vaccinations

Every pet parent wants to keep their best pal as healthy and happy for as long as possible so they can enjoy many good years with them. Cat and dog vaccinations play a critical role in your pet’s health care plan. Young pets will receive kitten and puppy shots during their first year of life, and then will continue to receive boosters throughout their life.

Vaccines We Offer

At Doral Centre Animal Hospital, we offer both core and noncore cat and dog vaccines to keep your pet healthy, whether they’re a couch potato or an adventure-seeker. Our veterinarians will develop a personalized vaccination plan for your pet that includes all the necessary core vaccines as well as any noncore vaccines needed to suit your pet’s lifestyle.

Recommended Dog Vaccines

There are certain vaccines that every dog needs, in addition to optional vaccines given based on risk level and lifestyle. Rabies, distemper, hepatitis, parvo, and parainfluenza are part of the core immunization category, which means they're essential to your dog's health.

Core Vaccines

  • Rabies
  • DHPP

Non-Core Vaccines

  • Leptospirosis
  • Lyme disease
  • Bordetella
  • Canine Influenza

Vaccines We Recommend for Cats

Cats may live out their days indoors, but that does not mean they are safe from infection. Humans can unknowingly carry harmful bacteria and viruses with them into their homes, which puts our feline friends at risk. Our recommended vaccines for cats include:

Core Vaccines

  • Rabies (core)
  • FVRCP (core)

Non-Core Vaccines

  • Feline leukemia

Cat and Dog Vaccination Schedule

All puppies and kittens receive a series of vaccinations during their first year of life that include the core vaccines and any non-core they may need. After their first year, we’ll evaluate their needs and develop a custom cat or dog vaccine schedule from there.

The frequency of vaccine administration once your pet is an adult depends on the individual recommendation of the vaccine. Generally, core vaccines are given on an annual or triennial (every 3 year) basis, depending on which type of vaccine your pet is given. Non-core vaccines are usually needed annually.
